We were fortunate enough to stay at the 1 Hotel South Beach late last year just as the weather was starting to cool but the days warm enough to enjoy an afternoon relaxing around the pool. The hotel’s central theme draws on nature on all levels, from their commitment to mind and body wellness to design and sustainability. We had dinner at STK restaurant, a modern steakhouse with chic lounge and DJ booth and sipped on craft cocktails. What more could you ask for?


Each 1 Hotel is unique, drawing inspiration from nature. How would you describe your hotel's philosophy?

How do the design elements incorporate nature?

The celebration of nature throughout the hotel is evident within the architecture and design, from the graceful twist of driftwood furnishings to the ever-present sounds of the ocean and abundance of living, natural material. Public spaces are filled with thousands of soothing and artfully placed plants and flowers and are constructed with reclaimed and repurposed wood. As our CEO and Chairman Barry Sternlicht has always said, “1 Hotel South Beach was designed to allow humans to reconnect with the most authentic and awe-inspiring experience—nature.”


How have you brought both wellness and fun into your F&B experience?

Consistently rated as one of Miami’s top wellness hotels, 1 Hotel South Beach knows how to incorporate health and fitness into our diverse F&B experiences. With six on-property food and beverage outlets helmed by Executive Chef Fernando Cruz varying from farm-to-table cuisine to Japanese and South American-inspired menus, guests can enjoy a unique palette of cuisines, which always feature some of the state’s freshest flavors and ingredients. Specifically, our fully organic restaurant, Plnthouse, prides itself on having extensive healthy options for every type of eater including those with paleo, keto, vegetarian and vegan diets. The grab-and-go concept has a Cold Pressed & Fresh Juice and Smoothie Program – each of the fresh juices, revitalizing shots and standout smoothies have add-in options including muscle-building supplements, mood and energy boosters, and superfoods.
